Ladeh Jungle Trekking

Duration: 8 days / 7 nights; Participant: 2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12; Type of accommodation: Homestay, tent; Type of transportation: Mini-van/mini-bus; Start/End:Padang: Grade: Challenge

Day 1: Padang Airport – Kerinci (Kersik Tua)   Arrive at Padang airport and depart to Kersik Tuo on Keranci. We will travel along trans Sumatera road; winding but scenic. Some parts are the rain forest area. We will pass farm land, villages with traditional houses called “Rumah Gadang”, and two lakes called Lake Diatas and Lake Dibawah. This trip takes about 6-7 hours including stop for res, lunch and taking photos. Arrive in Kersik Tuo village, a village on the foot of Mount Kerinci (1.425 m above sea level) and surrounded by a vast tea plantation. After a short briefing, in the afternoon we can take a walk and enjoy surrounding areas. Night at a simple family guest house. (BLD)

Day 2: Kersik Tua – Ladeh Panjang Camp   In the morning at 07:00 transfer to the last village called Kebun baru about 45 minutes and start trekking from here. Firstly we will hike along the vegetable field for about 1.5 hours to the border of Gunung Kerinci National Park. Afterward we hike in the forest area. We will stop at a small sulphuric pond where normally animals such as tapir, wild board, deer, and even Sumatran Tiger come to get “salt” from it. If lucky we might see at least one of these animals. Arrive in the camp site we have to set up tent for overnight. Night in tent (BLD)

Day 3: Ladeh Panjang Camp – Gunung Sembilan   Breakfast at campsite while enjoying surrounding area and then pack all stuff, start trekking to Lake Singkarak for about 3 hours. From this lake we wander along the patch below Gunung (Mount) Sembilan. A number of bird can be seen along this route include footprints of tapir and Sumatran Tiger. Before dark we will stop and set up our tent on Gunung Sembilan, about 2,569 m above sea level. (BLD)

Day 4: Gunung Sembilan – Hot-spring Camp   Trekking again. After about 2.5 hours tracing the path on Gunung Sembilan, we start to trek down the ridge of this mount to the elevation 1,800, the location of hot spring. We will spend the rest of the day here, setting up our camp site and taking bath on the hot spring (BLD)

Day 5: Hot-spring Camp – Muaro Camp   Breakfast in camp site, pack our stuff and we hike again down to Pematang the lowland forest on the foot of Gunung Sembilan. This forest is home for a number of birds including Siamang. We set up our camp site not far from this forest. Nearby is the meeting of two river carrying cold and hot water from hot-spring. If time allows we will explore the area of our camp site. (BLD)

Day 6: Muaro Camp – Kersik Tua   We will have opportunity to enjoy morning time in our camp with birds sound accompany us. After packing our things we start to hike down following the path inside the national park for about 3-4 hours and then getting out at Peconina tea plantation. Continue to Kersik Tua the final destination of our exploration. Night at homestay. (BLD)

Day 7: Kersik Tua – Padang   Today we are bit relax, no hurry, enjoy our day and slowly drive back to Padang through the same road. We plan to arrive in Padang before late afternoon. Arrive in Padang, check in at nice hotel in town. (BLD)

Day 8: Padang – Next Destinations   Transfer to airport and fly to the next destinations. End of services
